Bio
Welcome to my website! I am a dedicated professional with a strong academic background and diverse experience. I will earn my degree from the University of Southern Indiana, where I developed a solid foundation in Business Administration and Finance. Throughout my college career, I have taken on many roles in different organizations including Asian Student Union, College Mentors for Kids, Emerging Leaders, and The Shield, which allowed me to gain valuable insights and experiences.
Experience
Here I will highlight my college experiences and achievements as my resume reviews my professional experience.
I spent three years of my college career with Emerging Leaders first as a mentee, next as a mentor and finally as a program assistant. This program introduced me to the campus community through different views. As a freshman coming in during the pandemic, the campus was not at its peak in terms of activities on campus and it was difficult to form connections within the campus community due to the restrictions. However, through Emerging Leaders, I was able to connect with current leaders and faculty. After experiencing a dark year of the pandemic, I was set on creating a better experience for the oncoming class by becoming a mentor for the Emerging Leaders Program. As a sophomore I worked with Mr. John Race and other mentors to introduce incoming freshman to this university, encouraging them to take leadership roles and create an impact. Going into my junior year, I became the Program Assistant working alongside Ashley Hills who took over for John Race after his resignation. This role allowed me to stay connected with peers I mentored the prior year and welcome the next class of freshman alongside the new mentors.
I spent a year and a half with The Shield as a sales and marketing consultant gaining real world experience working with businesses within the Evansville community to promote their businesses within the campus. I met with business managers and owners promoting advertising opportunities The Shield could offer them. I ended my time with The Shield achieving best seller of 2021 and other great achievements.
I have been involved with Asian Student Union from its founding days. During my freshman and sophomore year as a general member, junior year as the activity director, and finally my senior year as the president. During the fall semester of my freshman year, ASU was not a thing, the constitution was not written until the spring semester. Being close to the founders of ASU, I immediately took an interest of the organization. Not only because I wanted to support them, but also in excitement to finally connect with peers of similar backgrounds. Being a part of this organization has connected me to so many peers from different Asian descents. Learning with and from them has taught the value of embracing your culture and accepting that your difference is what makes you unique and valuable. Those differences are what you can bring to the table.
While my time being in Student Board of Directors was short (only a semester long) it had a great impact on me. It tapped onto my creative side and got me out of my comfort zone. It taught me how to film short clips for Tik Tok and expanded my social circle. It allowed me to interact with people I normally would not approach. My short semester with Student Board of Directors gave me insight to a different perspective on the university. I saw marketing material differently, because I understood how they were made and that I had hand in making them. It also allowed me to be a voice for the students. To be the voice of their food choices. Being able to be the connecting part of the student body and Sodexo was an experience I will never forget.
I began my time with College Mentors for Kids during my junior year as a mentor for a little buddy from a local elementary, and as a senior I served as the Vice president of engagement. I joined College Mentors for Kids to be able to give back to the community that raised me. Since I do not normally have a lot of time to volunteer, this was my way of giving back. College Mentors for Kids is also the place where I mentor and impact children while they also teach me. This program taught me that learning is a constant thing, and it can come from all sources.
Career Aspirations
Looking ahead, my career aspirations revolves around gaining a foundation in the professional business world by expanding my work experience through internships and trainee positions. I am passionate about continuous growth by learning new skills or building upon current ones. Currently, I am working on my photography and editing skills using Adobe to expand my portfolio and launch my photography business. I hope to learn more about interior design and aspire to enter into real estate as a business venture in the future. I am a very ambitious individual, always seeking to try the next big thing. One day I am dreaming of opening a cafe, the next I may aim for a private pilot license!
